The Mendham Family (1968-2019)

Celebrating 51 Years!

Time Flies when you’re having fun as 2019 marks the 51st year for the Mendham family at Sunrise Lodge. In 1968., Dick ad Elsie decided to prove to their friends that they were truly crazy by purchasing a resort way up north. One rainy day on a fishing trip, they decided to call the Northwoods and Sunrise Lodge home. The Mendham family is truly blessed and forever grateful for the many friendships developed over the  years.

Dick and Elsie say they are getting older and that may be true, but they still work circles around us younger folks. Dick is going great after his 2011 kidney transplant. Dick and Elsie both are very active with local chambers of commerce, economic development projects, church and the grandkids.

Phil, a UW-Stevens Point grad, works in the front of the house and attempts to keep things running smoothly. Phil is involved with the Frosty Snowmobile Club, LVD Association and snowmobiling. Phil’s wife Karen is from Wauwatosa and is employed a the children’s librarian and tech manager in Land O’ Lakes. Linda, a UW-Stout grad, is responsible for all the delicious food at Sunrise. Without her, Sunrise wouldn’t taste so great! Vicki has her Master’s degree in Hotel Restaurant Management from UW-Stout and is the head of the Culinary Arts program at Nicolet College.

Kate, 21, graduated Summa Cum Laude from Bradley University and will be attending law school in the fall. Dave, 19, will be a junior at Bradley University studying business and marketing, while playing on the club soccer team and being active in his fraternity. Joe, 17, just graduated high school and will be attending Northern Michigan University in the fall, while trying to sneak in some snowmobiling.

Alexa, 20, will be a junior at UW-Green Bay and enjoys playing intramural sports and snowmobiling in her free time. Carl and Tony, 18, will be attending UW-Green Bay in the fall and love to fish and play sports when they can. Kayla, 16, will be a junior at Northland Pines and just got her drivers’ license! She is involved in theater and figure skating.

All 7 grand kids help around Sunrise and we are fortunate to have them involved. We get to work and play as a family and we think of you as family as well. We look forward to seeing you soon to help us celebrate 51 years!
