Fishing on Lac Vieux Desert

The Fishing is great and the catching isn’t bad either!!

There are many happy and successful fishermen.

Annual Stocking Program – This fall the LVD Lake Association released thousands of 4 – 6-inch Walleye.
In addition, the WI DNR released 10 – 12-inch Musky.
This should keep the fishing in good shape for some time to come.

Lac Vieux Desert is a 4200 acre Michigan-Wisconsin boundary water with trophy Musky, Northern, Walleye, Bass, Crappie, Perch, and more. Pan fishing provides fast action for fisher persons of all shapes and sizes.

If you want to try a different lake there are over 1000 lakes within a short drive. May 5, 2018 will signal the opening of fishing season (musky opens May 15). The Musky season closes Dec. 1 and northern and walleye closes March 1. You need a Michigan or Wisconsin fishing license, but not both.

Lac Vieux Desert is known as a trophy musky water so the size limit on musky is 40 inches. Late September, October, and early November have been the peak times for trophy muskies. You may hire a local guide – current rates are approximately $350 per day including equipment. We will be happy to arrange a guide for you.

Ice Fishing on Lac Vieux Desert is a great way to spend a few days this winter.
Perch, gills, crappies, northern and walleyes are the most popular fish to pursue.
